Who we are

The Wayward app is operated by Wayward Navigation LLC, a New Mexico limited liability company. "We" and "us" below mean that company.

What we collect

Wayward is built to keep your data on your phone unless you decide otherwise. Here is the full list of what the app touches:

crash reporter; if we add one (Sentry is the likely choice), this policy will be updated and the first-launch sheet will fire again so you see the change before it takes effect. We do not collect: your contacts, your photos, your microphone, your camera, push-notification tokens (alerts are scheduled on-device), or any advertising identifier. The app contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.

What we share

We do not sell or share your data with anyone. There is one nuance worth calling out plainly:

Open-Meteo, or a basemap tile from the USGS National Map, those providers see the request's IP address — the same as any web browser visiting their site. We do not forward your account identifier, your name, or any other Wayward-specific data along with that request.

How long we keep it

you tap "Delete my account" we keep the encrypted blob for 30 days as an accidental-deletion safety net, then permanently delete it.

Your rights

→ Location Services → Wayward. The app still runs without location; you just lose the auto-centering. For users in the EU, UK, and California, the rights above are how we honor GDPR, UK GDPR, and CCPA / CPRA data-subject requests. If a request can't be served by the in-app buttons, email us at the address below and we will respond within 30 days.

Children

Wayward is a backcountry navigation and weather app. It is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If a parent or guardian believes a child under 13 has created an account, email us and we will close the account and delete the data.

Cookies and tracking technologies

The Wayward mobile app does not set cookies (it is not a web app) and does not run third-party analytics, advertising, or cross-app-tracking technologies. No App Tracking Transparency prompt is needed because we do not track.

Contact

For privacy questions, data requests, or to report a concern, email [email protected].

*Operator note: this email needs to be set up as a real inbox or forwarding address before launch.*

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy in a way that affects you, the first- launch disclaimer sheet re-fires on app open so you see the change before continuing. Minor edits (typo fixes, broken-link repairs) won't trigger the sheet but will be reflected in the date at the top of this page.
